About Ken Wessel

Ken Wessel of Vero Beach, Florida, founded Wessel Fragrances in 1988. He ran the New Jersey-based business for three decades before overseeing its sale to Takasago International Corporation, Inc., in 2008. Through his business, he produced and sold fragrances to customers in the personal care and household industries. Throughout his tenure with Wessel Fragrances, Ken Wessel ensured that the business maintained a close relationship with customers, a unique aspect that drew the interest of Takasago International.

In his capacity with Wessel Fragrances, Mr. Wessel brought more than 20 years of experience in the fragrance industry. The Florida resident began his career with Procter & Gamble in Ohio as part of the company’s perfume R&D division. From there, he took on a position as president at deLaire, Inc., in New York. Subsequently, he established his own business.

Throughout much of his career, Mr. Wessel has been active in the professional community as a board member at several organizations, including the International Fragrance Association and Personal Care Products Council. Beyond that, he served as the president of the Fragrance Materials Association, which awarded him the Eric Bruell Distinguished Service Award for leadership in the fragrance industry, and was the vice chairman of the Research Institute for Fragrances Materials.
