The Family and Children’s Association Mental Health Programs

Prior to retiring, Florida resident Ken Wessel spent more than 50 years in the fragrance industry. In addition to his professional career, Ken Wessel was involved with community organizations including the Family and Children’s Association (FCA).

Since its inception, FCA’s purpose has been to assist and protect the Long Island community’s most vulnerable members, including children, families, and senior citizens. FCA's Children’s Mental Health and Wellness department offers support for children and young adults up to 21 years of age suffering from mental health or behavioral issues. The organization offers programs such as Care Management, Family Centers, Youth and Family Integration, and Mental Health Supportive Services.

Free, culturally sensitive, and family-focused, the programs within these departments are tailored to meet the needs of the family, with meetings often held at home or some other agreed-upon environment. Individualized action plans, support groups, home visits, and respite services, among others, are the pathways through which FCA assists this population with mental health and behavioral support.
